Bylines
I drafted regular consumer-facing perspective pieces for NAA’s CEO that appeared in The Washington Post. Below is a sample of one byline.
Media Relations Micro-webinar
I drafted the content and presented a micro-webinar for NAA affiliates and members on how to handle media requests regarding the pandemic and what to do in a crisis situation.
Background for Media
I worked with producers at HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver to provide background for the episode on evictions. It was an important conversation to have because it provided the landlord’s perspective to an outlet that would generally be unfriendly to landlords.
In addition, I planned and executed media tours to New York and Los Angeles meeting with CBS, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Lost Angeles Times and NPR.
Scripts, Speeches and Video Production
I was responsible for all of the scripts for NAA events, videos and speeches. I worked with the CEO to help refine his presentation. He made tremendous strides in a few years. Below is a sample of an NAA video where I wrote the script, worked with the videographer, ran the teleprompter and worked with the editors to produce a final product.
The Breaking Down One Dollar of Rent video was not one that was just used for social. It provided a lot of key background for reporters during the pandemic as they tried to understand the margins of the rental housing industry. I worked on this video with the Director of Communications. I got a lot of mileage out of it, along with a PDF graphic, in media pitching.
Award
I am an active member of the Public Relations Society of America and part of its largest, most active chapter. I thought that my PR team was top notch. That was validated when we were award the 2019 PRSA-NCC Thoth Award for Non-profit/Association Communications Team of the Year.
The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals
Social Media
I developed the strategy for the organization and worked with our agency and the director of communications to develop the strategy for Escape to Water. I utilized a scheduling tool, repurposed content and developed a brand voice on social for APSP. We utilized Instagram for Escape to Water because of the visual aspect. Unfortunately, we were unable to execute the entire Escape to Water strategy, but we did have a solid start.
Chapter Websites
APSP had been to launch chapter websites for a few years when I joined the organization. I utilized my technical knowledge and web development experience to prioritize the effort and launched the chapter sites a few months later. I also developed video training materials for the chapter web content managers.
Edelman
I began as an intern at Edelman before joining the firm permanently as an Account Executive with the Technology Public Affairs Groups. My clients focused on technology and policy in certain areas. Additionally, I worked on a speakers’ bureau for a transportation client, media relations and public affairs for a coalition and media relations for tech startups, established firms and Fortune 100 companies.
