About Me

Getting to Know Me

I help both organizations and clients tell their stories, navigate crises, as well as develop key thought leaders and subject matter experts.

Many organizations fail to recognize the value of PR and media relations, the need to prepare for potential crises and to actively participate in conversations that affect their business because they don’t understand what exactly PR can do for them and their bottom line.

I focus on building relationships with key stakeholders to develop a winning strategy. This methodology allows me to inform executive leadership that on average, 60 percent of customers enter the sales funnel through earned media, and that poor reputation management, both internal and external, has a high cost long term.

WORK LIFE BALANCE: I’m a father to twin girls and an auto racing fan. I also enjoy golf, guitar playing, reading, solving puzzles and crosswords, and Lego model building.

My Background

I began my career as a reporter and editor at small newspaper in Indiana. I moved east and served as a copy editor for two local newspapers in Virginia. This experience has been invaluable as it gives me insight into reporters and newsrooms.

In 2008, I transitioned to PR and haven’t looked back. I specialized in media relations, social media, media training, executive communications, corporate communications and crisis communications.

I have worked in both the agency and in-house settings. I am comfortable working across an organization and build relationships to build consensus and keep spokespeople and key stakeholders informed and engaged.

I’m based in the DC area, but I am available for remote work and open to relocation if it takes me closer to home in the Midwest.

Personal

I am an avid sports fan especially Indiana University basketball, the Indianapolis Colts, the Chicago White Sox and open wheel racing with Formula 1 and IndyCar. Fun fact, the color scheme of this site is from the famous Gulf livery.

I enjoy building Lego models in what little spare time I have. I also play guitar, poorly, and enjoy traveling, both internationally and domestically. I prefer the mountains to the beach, but can be persuaded to eat good BBQ in the Outer Banks so my family can enjoy the ocean.

I am a pop culture connoisseur and a casual video gamer. I am also probably first choice for your trivia team due to my knowledge of random facts with a goal of appearing on Jeopardy.
